I Remember

"It's funny when a memory comes. I thought I saw you today, you were younger, your long auburn hair blown by a gentle breeze. Skin so soft, lightly dusted with freckles. You walked right past me and my heart skipped a beat. Thoughts raced through my mind, taking me back. I remember standing behind you, holding you, arms wrapped around your waist, my chin gently nestled in the crook of your neck. From where we stood high on the bluffs, we could see the waves that crashed and ravaged the rocks below us. The fresh ocean air, with its cool, crisp, salty flow, traveled around our bodies, blowing through your hair. Your scent breathed newness of life into me. I remember how your hands held mine, and how I would kiss your neck, softly nibbling your ears with my teeth. I remember the colors of orange, purple, and pink, how they reflected on the sea's glassy surface. Sweeping clouds lay just above the beautiful green-blue sea as the sun slowly melted into its shimmering embrace. It was a timeless feeling, like floating in a wonderland of amazement. I can still go to that place of beauty, but it's not the same. The one thing that brings it all to life is missing: you pressed close to me, a oneness that's lost at sea."
