Advice to my Son

Have a heart they say
Don't wear your heart on your sleeve
Make love and not war
Choose gratefulness instead of greed
Put yourself in someone elses shoes
Don't judge a book by it's cover
Keep an open mind
And new things you'll discover
Good things come to those that wait
Happiness is just around the bend
You don't need to be popular
You just need one good friend
Shine a light in darkened corners
Be your own advocate
Always tell the truth
And you'll never have lies to regret
Believe in your capabilities
Trust your own instincts and your heart
If you're feeling lost in life
Today's a good place to start
Keep your head above the water
Never stop daydreaming
Don't fall victim to or convert to
Others lies and scheming
Challenge yourself in life
Always strive to be a better you
Take care in what you say
Be proud of the things you do
Stand up for yourself
Don't be afraid to stand out in a crowd
Be the person you know you are
Stand firmly and be proud
Have faith in something greater
Be thankful and be humble
Pick yourself up and start right over
When you've tripped or stumbled
Treat others the way you want to be treated
Take time to replenish and energize
Always be yourself no matter what
Don't harbour hatred and despise
Keep your mind wide open
Stand by your morals and values
Never go to bed angry at someone
Don't get involved in others issues
Be honest with yourself and others
Be careful which path you choose
Always if you choose to be happy
You've got nothing to lose
Lastly... Love yourself
Give yourself a break
Remember that your only human
And what a difference in this world you'll make!

Wow, what an inspiring and uplifting poem! I love how it encourages readers to strive for personal growth and to be the best version of themselves. The positive messages throughout the poem, like choosing gratefulness and treating others the way you want to be treated, are inspiring and motivating.

One suggestion for improvement would be to play around with the structure of the poem a bit. Perhaps breaking it up into smaller stanzas would make it easier to read and allow the profound messages to stand out even more.

Overall, this is a beautiful and heartfelt piece that reminds us all to be kind, compassionate, and true to ourselves. Well done!
