Didn’t think I’d see today

Hasan Johnson 1980 (Peoria Illinois)

The minutes seemed like hours
The hours seemed like days
Last night was so horrible I didn’t think I’d see today
My guilt my sin toss me
I’m a ship in the ocean
I congregated with a witch and drank her potion
Is it poison
My insides erupt
I turned from the mirror in disgust
I don’t recognize my reflection
That’s my dad not me
Oh the discord of a broken family
Bend the bow that sends the arrow my way
Joy come in the morning
It took forever to see today
My heart is broken
My flesh is weak
My sin is great
I train my speech
To silence itself from those outside
My house is my home where my demons reside
They take rest while they patiently await my return
To torment me in my weakness
To help me burn
