Lighthouse- Let Me Burn

I boldly stand upon the shore,
Engulfed by the raging storm,
Whipped by furious winds,
And yet- I almost feel to be a coward,
For if my light would fail me
In the deepest darkest hour
And leave man at the mercy
Of the storm, alas, I could not save them.

But oh let this not hinder me
In the lighting of my candle,
Shattering the Night's abyss,
That eternal darkness set before me.
But may my flame burn stronger still
Until its pulse subsides.
I render all the rest to God,
The Keeper of my life.
