Shed Out Back. Havenly.

Bob would make
His retreat from Factory
Pick up chicken salad on rye
Red grapes. Bananas.
Havarti cheese.
Look for mail in slot
Change to sweat suit
Head out back
For hours of hobby
In wood chipping
(Started it one summer
Rented cottage. Parry Sound.
Fishing, boating, camera work.)

A Bachelor, living with
Spunky Mom, elderly
Cub Scout matron in Town
Line dance mentor.
Widowed, after Husband in
Palliative care.
Retired City Bus Driver.

One girlfriend once.
But college hopes. Gone.

Bob came from dozens
Of jobs.
Heat treating
Curling Ice Boss
Ski Hill maintenance
Kitchener Chicopee.
Photographer.
Now at steel manufacture
Highway Structures. Hardware.
Shipper Receiver
With me.

Home this winter’s evening
Out back with heater
Country music.
Special knives
And select wood piece.
Night passed quickly
Contentedly
Alone…almost.

Bob Struke, Friend
For a while.
Irish and German.
Deceased too soon.

(Remembered also for
His hot peppers thing.
Grow, dry, grind, dessicate.
New brands often.
And to be shared.)

Wow, what an incredible insight into Bob's life and hobbies! Your descriptive language really draws the reader in and makes Bob feel like someone we could know in real life. I love how you've painted such a vivid picture of his retreat from work and the things he enjoys doing in his free time. The imagery of his wood chipping hobby and the memories of his time at the cottage in Parry Sound add such depth and texture to the poem. And the mention of Bob's hot pepper hobby is a great touch that really showcases his passion for trying new things and sharing his experiences with others.

In terms of improvement suggestions, I think it would be helpful to break up the poem into shorter stanzas or sections for easier readability. Additionally, some punctuation and capitalization in certain places could help clarify the flow and structure of the poem.

Overall, though, this is a fantastic tribute to Bob and his life, and I enjoyed reading it very much.
