A Letter of Goodbye

A LETTER OF GOODBYE

Hello, my friend, you are quiet, but I know you are there, I feel the peace emanating in my thoughts of you.

You always have a knack of lending an ear when I need to talk; so right now, is no different.

I feel you listening, receiving, just waiting until I give you the sign that I am ready for your advice.

There is an onus that I must relay before we part, though our parting with not be forever.

I do this not as an amercement, but because it is something that needs to be spoken to settle my soul.

We allow time to play tricks on us all; but the practical allow love and friendship to be solid and true.

Do you remember that the last time we talked you said, “I’m having a little procedure, I’ll be out a couple of weeks,” always the optimist?

I’ll have you know that I keep waiting for you to elegantly breeze into my office with your beautiful smile.

Or to at least give me a call and say, “Wonder Woman, I need your expertise. Are you in a meeting?” so I can say “No,” and shoo everyone out without you knowing.

I continue to wait for you to come because I never told you that I appreciate that you are my fan, my mentor, my friend.

I appreciate that you had a way of boosting my confidence, even when I did not believe in myself.

I want to tell you that your smile and good nature is infectious, and that everyone knows and respects who Ms. Barbara is, even if they had never met you.

I want to say thank you for pulling me under your wing and imparting your profound and deep-reaching knowledge with me.

I do miss you, all of you, your laugh, your smile, your good nature, your knowledge, education, and your grumpy grammarian persona.

To be honest, I am also mad at you for leaving me behind, leaving us behind, it was way too soon, but you are an over achiever.

I cannot fault you though, I know in my heart that you did it to pave the way for all of us that will eventually follow in your footsteps.

You made the world a better place with your earthly existence, and you just had to be first in line to go to the other side, to show that you are not scared!

But really, to make sure that Heaven is ready for your friends, family, and all those that ever knew you.

Barbara, I appreciate everything, but for now, I must say goodbye; though we will meet again, I am sure of it.

I know that you are always there to listen, and when my time stops playing tricks and turns me over, you will be there when I arrive.
