Saying Nothing Nicely

We are sharing the Den
Nine AM (chime ringing
As I tap here).
Slouched in love seat
Hilary, with Monet
Water Lily print overhead.
I have a Group of Seven number
Behind me and up
The Red Maples by cascading brook.

Old Aunt Mary’s
Royal Doulton figure, inherited.
Mom’s large still life
To my right.
Classic bottle, grapes, melon on table.
Memories, art, antiquity
Impart.
To these seventy plus
Antiquities of heart.

Loving their shared space.
Using a quilt, she does
Gifted by a Friend.
Warm for the season.

Sharing loving looks. Still silent.
Too quiet?
How about a little
Tony Bennet or Leonard Cohen
Celine Dion or Andre Rieu with his
Waltzing orchestra?
Hits the spot, Doug.
Raining outside anyways.
