The Old Kitchen

Mom would mix butter/margarine
Half and half
Softened
Throw in that colour spot yellow
Separate in small cooled containers.
Mom would mix  with vigour
The powdered skim milk
Kids not gonna get fat.
All that they wanted.
Mom would pre-boil several
Eggs.
The salad with celery, mayo a favourite.

Mom took special delight
In the cream portion
At top of milk bottle
(Milkman would rattle
At back door for empties.
Every other day.
Horse wagon out front.)

Yep Mom was busy
Happy with the morning’s radio
Music, comments and news.
Dearest Mom.

(Talking the fifties here.)
