WORDS AND NUMBERS

mad hippie poet 1974 (new jersey)

Words are written so are numbers, but do we listen to what they have to say when inside our walls of memories, they speak to us their confessions of truth and lies? They talk to us inside of the eyes of our minds. They tell us their names are different, yet we know they are identical.

Tell us what we want to know and not what we want to know. Who is planting the seeds to watch them grow? You have us where you want us, unable to live our journey but to die on this path of yours covered in words and numbers. Some have forgotten where they come from, but dear sirs and madams, I survived to remember,

The ink that covers my pages and the ink that protects my skin shows that I refused to give in; my scars show that to you, I will not take a knee and allow you to win.

I am prepared now for the last breath that I no longer can take but myself, I am the one whole stole the golden scissors, and you bastards can not clip my wings, for I am like a phoenix rising from the ashes and ready to fly.

Words and numbers come to me in my dreams, having me think that they are nightmares waking me up with both theirs and my screams. Have I gone mad, or am I one of the few to be chosen to be awake when they see that I do not back down and under pressure, I do not break?
