SUMMER SWEAT

mad hippie poet 1974 (new jersey)

My naked body is full of summer sweat
my mind is tired from such a wonderful f*ck on the beach
all that it wants to do is sleep and forget

I stand by watching her bleed
for me, she no longer has a need
all that I was to her was a summer fling but every day and every night we made each other's bodies sweat
now are names are not on the others' alcohol and weed-infused breath

She wants her cake and I want to eat it to
well the icing has been melting inside of this heatwave
we just walked away, we can call each other all we want but we can never go back home again

I followed the sun
into the mountains, this is where for a while where I plan to stay at least until I find myself or the pieces of my broken heart or the torn pages of my poetry that got me laid on this boring family vacation

I can not wait to see if you come back next year like the rest of these bennies or I can choose to never know and just f*ck a local but you, you left me here bruised and broken without knowing the truth about the feelings half-spoken

I think sometimes I would rather have planted my feet inside of some seagull shit then have stepped into you
I am sure that you understand summer sweats and how you left me this horny teenager who is soon not yet a man
