Thirty Seconds

Thirty Seconds..

Hold my hand, don't go and leave me!
I can feel the ground shaking underneath me..
Let's hide together!
Is it the storm?!
Where is my sister?  Where is my mum?

Here was my brother's bed
And here was my pillow,  where I used to lay my head
Here,we used to have a home
Full of happiness,  cozy and warm

Wrapped with their tears and fears, under the rubble, buried alive!
Thirty seconds
The first light of dawn
disturbing the peace of the night
I hear shouts, but I see no one

For the people of Syria, I will always pray
For those who left and those who decided to stay

If only I could wipe the tears and draw a smile instead of the frown
Hold the hand of every child who is afraid and sad
Plant the seed of hope in every mum and every dad
And in every heart, this seed will become a tree,
to shade every Syrian , including me!

If only I could open in my heart a thirty thousand windows and a thirty thousand doors..
To Syria, I belong , to the land that I adore

About this poem

This poem was written when the earthquake happened in Syria and Turkey, killing more than thirty thousand and affecting millions of people who live there. The earthquake left them devastated , homeless, and miserable after they've lost everything in the conflict that has been happening for the last 12 years in Syria.
