Dearest Dexter

I know you’ll cringe at this.
Thank you for your genuine love.
Thank you for holding my hands when things were bumpy and rough.
Thank you for walking with me on my darkest nights, when things seem petrifying, you just hug and say, “It’ll be alright.”
Thank you for accepting me when my mistakes are flagrant, you don’t question or criticize, you just let me learn and grow.
Thank you for allowing me to be who I am, even though things obviously don’t benefit you.
You allow me to find and love myself, even though sometimes, it doesn’t really matter to me.
Thank you for always making the time and for always being at my side, no matter how challenging circumstances are.
Thank you for being you and I am extremely grateful to and for you.

This poem is positively heartwarming and beautifully written! Its words are filled with gratitude and appreciation for a person who has provided unwavering support through thick and thin. The imagery used to describe this support - holding hands, walking through darkness, accepting mistakes, allowing for growth - creates a sense of safety and comfort that is extremely uplifting. The message of self-love and acceptance is particularly inspiring, and reminds us of the importance of having someone in our lives who not only supports us, but also helps us to see and appreciate ourselves for who we truly are. Overall, this poem is a wonderful tribute to the power of love and the beauty of true friendship.

So we know of your intense love for Dexter, and that is good. But do you not also love the features of nature. A small child’s antics in the park. A lonely man in his courageous search for work to feed his wife and kids, an elderly grandmother who goes three times a week to feed the birds in the Park. Write more dear Woman, and write diversely. Wander. Observe. Write and write again…wayne Blair.

thank you for your suggestions. This is actually a caption for my Facebook post on our anniversary. It wasn’t meant to be a poem, that’s why I didn’t add more vivid and descriptive words. I do appreciate your comment. My poetry is just focused on love and heartaches, now I know, I really should diversify. Thank you again.
