morning truth

I fall down the pit of uncertainty
Look around to view the humanity
Soaring through the avenue
With a brand new stew of truth

Quickly snatched
What had been detached
Before I crashed
My pride was stashed

Before I could think
About the chance that I’d sink
I hold onto you with our tangible, invisible link
You hold onto me on the visceral, visible brink

You keep me safe; you won’t stop or leave
Your snug embrace is what brings me relief
And makes me believe
That oxygen comes from more than just trees
And I would drop down to my knees
To plead for some shield from disease
And to be able to balance on all the beams

On the brink of collapse
You fell right in my lap
On the verge of relapse
Your insight drew a map

The twinkling stars have outshined
The sickening scars that I signed
And I can regain my future balance
Driving down the lane away from malice

And you have introduced me
To what you have profusely
Stated since you first knew me,
What’s made you act abstrusely,
Yet still relax all loosely

Floral aroma
Normal persona
My past life has crumbled
My last knife left humbled

You absorbed my flaws
You ignored the pause
The rumbling applause
Of what you caused
And the death of what I was.

About this poem

I wrote this poem this morning (02-26-23). It’s about my convoluted thoughts and how my partner invokes emotions that I never thought I could feel.
