Forth

Inside the breast
of those that move like a thick slug
dragging their chest,
so when tread the road flesh will tug
and rough rip in lines while they lug
to find what none can;
lower not have I seen a worm,
as dust winds might fan
slipping abroad through a grip firm,
bends to shades of the narrow berm.

Why should they sit
and their eyes up to heaven shun?
Brooks at the pit
a bird, needs flight in the sun
with wide horizons a pair knit!
Slack non your pace
for your thoughts are a tower;
thick the mace
that static time will shower,
uptight aim at every hour!

    I love how you describe how hope can live in the lowest moments of our souls. Your poem touches the intellect but then goes on to infiltrate emotion- that is its power.

    I get a sense of slothfulness and sluggishness here, although I don't want to run myself too deeply into what I think it pertains to since I suck at deciphering as I said on one of your other pieces. I get a sense of wasting time and not utilizing full potential. I read it numerous times and that was what I felt. Now, tell me it was about birds feeding on worms and prove me right in my other assertion. LoL

    In any regard, you are definitely a master when it comes to constructing well thought out poetry. Even though I suck at deciphering poetry, I still love to try.

      You are absolutely correct, that is precisely what the poem is about, and how we all must try, despite feeling in our breasts "lower than a worm" sometimes, to advance and improve ourselves moving forward and not staying in any given situation dull and unproductive. Moreover, thank you for the commendation of my work.
