Comfort and Wasted Efforts

I am a lonely girl,
Weighed down,
Hardly any friends,
And a past that I can't seem to forget.

All my efforts are wasted,
On a dark past I'm trying to forget,
But can I overcome these burdens,
With the knowledge
That I'm carrying them alone?

I struggle with my past,
Yet I hide it with a smile,
And I try to help people
With the burdens they carry,
But how can I carry the
Burdens of other people
When I'm only barely carrying my own?

There are often times
When I try to shut other
People out, for fear of letting them in,
But all the while, I cry inside.

The only comfort I find is
In my writing and music, as
It helps me distract myself from
My inner pain.

How long until I break?
I'm already broken.
