The Serene Reflections of Umiam : An Ode to Umiam Lake

Oh Umiam lake, thou art a sacred place,
A refuge for the souls that struggle on,
A haven for the broken hearts and faces,
A balm for those who weep until the dawn.

Thy music and thy sound doth soothe the mind,
And bringeth peace to those who seek thy shore,
Thy waters deep and still, a balm to find,
In which the weary heart may rest once more.

Oft have I heard thy name in tales of old,
From poets and from writers far and wide,
Who spoke of thee with love and awe untold,
And praised thy beauty and thy gentle tide.

From Shelley's "Ode to a Skylark" to Tagore's "Gitanjali,"
From Goethe's "Faust" to Dickinson's "Because I could not stop for Death,"
Thy name is writ in words of poetry,
And honoured in the world's immortal breath.

For in thy depths, the soul may find its peace,
And rest from all the pain and suffering,
For thou art like a balm that doth release,
The spirit from the chains of everything.

Oh Umiam lake, thou art a place divine,
A sanctuary for the wounded soul,
A haven where the weary heart may find,
The solace that it needs to be made whole.

In thee, the poet's words doth find their voice,
And music springs from every ripple's crest,
And those who hear thy gentle lullabies,
Are filled with peace and comfort and with rest.

So come, oh troubled soul, to Umiam's shore,
And let her waters heal thy weary heart,
For in her depths, thy brokenness no more,
And thou wilt find a brand new, better start.

And as thy heart begins to heal and mend,
Thou wilt feel the beauty that surrounds,
And know that in the end, love doth transcend,
All that thou hast suffered and been bound.

Oh Umiam lake, thou art a place for all,
A haven for the weary and the lost,
And in thy gentle waters, we may call,
For peace and solace, no matter what the cost.

For in the end, the journey that we take,
Leads us to thee, oh Umiam lake,
And there we find the solace that we seek,
The balm that heals the soul and makes us whole.

Thy name may be unknown to many souls,
But those who know thee hold thee close to heart,
For in thy waters lies a peace that rolls,
And mends the wounds that life doth often impart.

Oh Umiam lake, thou art a refuge pure,
A place to rest and find the strength within,
To face the trials that life may yet endure,
And overcome the struggles that begin.

From every corner of the earth, they come,
To find the solace that thy waters bring,
From every walk of life, both rich and some,
To hear the songs that in thy waves do sing.

And as they leave, they carry with them still,
The memories of thy gentle lullabies,
The peace that they have found to cure their ills,
And hope that in the future they may rise.

For thou art more than just a body of water,
Thou art a sanctuary for the soul,
A place of peace where we can find our altar,
And find the strength to make our lives whole.

So let us all bow down and give thee praise,
Oh Umiam lake, a treasure of our hearts,
For in thy gentle waters lies the way,
To find the peace that every soul imparts.
