Isaiah, the sixty-fifth.

Doug Blair 1951 (London)

He caps it off saying
There will be a New Heaven
New Earth.
Righteous mirth
Beautiful bounty
Shall replace the
Long string of error
Rebellion
Messing with neighbours’
Idols and lechery.
Family treachery that
Will soon be gone.
Capture, exile anon.
Babylon.
And then delightful Mercy.
A Suffering Servant
Oversees.
The buy-back.
Our sins laid on Him.
Bleeding and humiliated.
And we, so undeserving.
Jesus governs that
New Place.
No more disgrace.
None.
The Feast of Joy begun.

About this poem

The Bible offers 66 books. Isaiah has 66 chapters. Thirty-nine on error, rebuke, judgment and correction. Then 27 chapters on love, grace, redemption and recovery. The hilariously fortunate images appearing in chapters 52 through 54. Then skip to 61, and finally 65.
