Wouldn't you like to see me burn

In the innocence of our beginning
we were two people avidly prepared
to embark on a blissful journey
loving and learning from one another
together we would confront
the enigma of life

Somewhere along the way
however those visions became
tragically distorted

When you chose to use your mate
as an emotional trash can
to release all your personal insecurities
And resentments into

Flames of anger blaze from within
am I nothing but a mere candle
whose wax you selfishly desire to mold
and reshape in the image of despair
at will

Harming the one you once cherished
is your twisted form of therapy

Wouldn't you like to see me burn
slowly dissolve into a useless pool of defeat
the way in which your self esteem has slowly
deteriorated

I have accepted the inevitable
I do not share in your illness
my interpretation of love
does not share in your visions of sickness

This treacherous descent
down a dead end street
will be solo

My side of the bed will be vacant
as is the affection in your heart
the candle will not ignite

You have yourself to blame
