Politicians: The Jesters of Life
Mawphniang Napoleon 1993 (Ri Bhoi)
Life's a comedy of twists and turns, my friend,
Where happiness and sadness intertwine.
And though you may not find it to your end,
I've got a joke that politicians design.
A manifesto filled with empty words,
A promise of a better life to come,
But when it's said and done, what is absurd,
Is that they never seem to get it done.
They'll vow to end the poverty and pain,
And heal the wounds of those who've suffered long,
But when they're in the seat of power and fame,
Their words are just a fading, empty song.
So don't be sad, my friend, and don't be blue,
Just laugh at life, and all its jokes anew.
For politicians are the jesters of our time,
With speeches grand, and words both rich and rhyme,
They'll tell us all the things they'll do,
And leave us guessing what will come to fruition.
But in the end, it's just a show they put on,
A play that's acted out upon the stage,
For they, like Shakespeare's fools, will come and go,
And leave us waiting for a brighter age.
So let us laugh at all the jokes they bring,
For laughter is the best medicine, they say,
And when the world is sad and baring,
It's good to have a laugh, each and every day.
So take a seat, and watch the comedy unfold,
And enjoy the humor that life does hold.
For in this world of highs and lows, my friend,
We need a moment of laughter, now and then.
And though the politicians may not comprehend,
Their jokes are what we need to make amends.
Like Chaucer's tales or Shakespeare's merry crew,
Their stories bring a smile upon our face,
And though they may be false, or just not true,
It's good to laugh, and find some solace.
So let us not take life so seriously,
And find the humor in each passing day,
For though it may be filled with strife and misery,
A good laugh can chase the blues away.
So come and join me, as we laugh and play,
And find the joy in life, each and every day.
For in this world of endless toil and pain,
We need a moment to just break away,
And though the politicians may feign,
A laugh is what we need to make us gay.
Like Swift's wit, or Wilde's impeccable flair,
Their humor cuts through all the dreary mist,
And though it may not always be quite fair,
It's good to laugh, and not take life so seriously, we must.
So let us not be swayed by all the sorrow,
And find the joy in life, amidst the strife,
For though it may be dark, and bleak tomorrow,
A laugh today will bring a ray of light.
So come, my friend, and let us laugh and play,
For life is short, and humor brightens every day.
And though the politicians may not see,
The power of laughter and the joy it brings,
We must not let their ignorance set us free,
For in our laughter, we can find a happy thing.
Like Byron's wit, or Poe's macabre art,
Their humor may be dark, or light as day,
But still it brings a smile to every heart,
And chases all the sadness far away.
So let us not be troubled by their lies,
And find the humor in each passing moment,
For though it may not always reach the skies,
It's good to laugh, and not be so lament.
So come, my friend, and let us laugh and play,
For life is short, and humor makes it brighter every day.

About this poem
This note pertains to a poem that highlights the dichotomy of life, where moments of happiness and sadness coexist. The poem takes a humorous approach towards politicians, depicting them as jesters who make grand speeches but fail to deliver on their promises. The poem advocates for finding humor in life, as it can bring solace amidst the toil and pain. The humor in life is compared to that of classic writers like Chaucer, Shakespeare, Swift, Wilde, Byron, and Poe, who used wit and humor to bring a smile to the reader's face. The note encourages the reader not to take life too seriously and to embrace the humor that it brings, as it can help chase away the blues. more »
