Aged

Quaint ,
Was the way she held her pen ,
yet her bony fingers flounced lively on the page
I could not help but notice
how her shoulders slacked with every exhale

Without an ounce of shame
I kept my gaze plastered on her being
Hoping to catch a glimpse of her soul
,I kept on staring

She appeared to be an ancient soul,
lost in a contemporary world
Wrinkles illuminating her face ,
Highlighting she was more than old

Through my modest eyes
I could only wonder
What did she see
Through those grey pupils
What she heard ,through those slumped ears
What she felt, on that ancient skin

Such was the intriguing aura
Of this ancient soul

About this poem

Long rides on the subway train attracted the eyes in the oddest ways. It is within those mustard-stained walls ,greesy old seats and the scratchy worn-out ambiance that one always seemed to get lost in thought. The eyes never seemed to resist gazing at one of the antiquated souls within the insipid seats . .
