Night Ode

Thank you Night, for always being there for me when I need it.
For whenever I have a stressful day,
For whenever I deal with drama,
For whenever I feel down and depressed from my own mind,
For whenever I feel like doubting myself and who I am,
I know you will always be there to comfort me in your embrace.

I can always count on you when the day does me dirty,
When I feel like crying alone just to get my thoughts out,
When my mind shifts into the mindset of the person I want to be, not the person I am,
When I psychologically reflect on who I am and how I got to where I am,
When I so badly want to be Cathy, but life takes me back to the real me.
I know you will be there to help me.

I know that doubts and anxiety and depression hit different when you’re around,
but I know that’s not your fault.
You’re just a victim of circumstance.
My mind is the real villain, not you, Night.
You’re just here to pamper me in my vulnerability.

I hate waking up in the mornings because I know I will have to wait hours to meet you again.
I try with all my might to stay up and enjoy your presence,
but life tries its best to take me away from you.
Sometimes it works, but my determination is strong,
and I will be with you for as long as I physically can.
