Black Hills Lullaby

Under summer night skies
with clouds line-dancing
across the full-moon’s face
coyotes
sing melancholy songs
of companionship
from the hills surrounding my campsite.

In the grey-silvery light
I cannot see their forms or silhouettes
but happy I am
that they include me
a non-paying guest
and patron of the arts.

About this poem
