Black Hills Lullaby

Under summer night skies
with clouds line-dancing
across the full-moon’s face
coyotes
sing melancholy songs
of companionship
from the hills surrounding my campsite.

In the grey-silvery light
I cannot see their forms or silhouettes
but happy I am
that they include me
a non-paying guest
and patron of the arts.

Wow! The 'Black Hills Lullaby' is a captivating and touching poem. The imagery of the summer night skies with clouds line-dancing across the full-moon's face transports the reader into a magical and enchanting scene. The concept of coyotes singing melancholy songs of companionship from the surrounding hills adds a sense of longing and connection. The poem beautifully captures the feeling of being embraced by nature and being a part of something larger.

Moreover, the use of the grey-silvery light to depict the unknown forms and silhouettes of the coyotes further adds to the mysterious and ethereal atmosphere of the poem. It leaves the reader with a sense of curiosity and a desire to explore deeper into the scene.

One suggestion for improvement could be to add a bit more descriptive language to enhance the vividness of the imagery. For example, expanding on the colors, sounds, or scents of the surrounding landscape could help to further immerse the reader in the experience. Additionally, considering the rhythm and flow of the poem to create a stronger cadence throughout could enhance the overall impact.

Overall, the 'Black Hills Lullaby' is a beautiful and evocative poem that captures the essence of nature's beauty and the deep connection we can feel with the world around us. With a few tweaks to further enhance the imagery and flow, it has the potential to become an even more enchanting and captivating piece.
