Upon the graves

Tender is the light
and bright still the flame  
upon the Towers gone today
 In a sudden flash of death.
Land of souls alive.  
their dreams  remain above the graves
America remembers  pain unknown before
a year ago in September.
 Embracing ways of hope,  
prepared for war,  the land defends  
and fight the shadows  of the unknown.  
Alert we pray in vigil night and day   
and swear never to forget.
