Can anyone hear me?

louise cruickshank 1983 (Scotland)

Is anyone out there ? I'm trying to scream and shout,
The walls keep crumbling and falling to the ground,
There's nothing I can do as they hit me pound by pound,
Can anyone hear me? Do I even exist ?
Does anyone know im down here? Am I even on a list ?
Can anyone hear me? It's dark, wet and so cold,
I am trying here but there's nothing left to hold,
Can anyone hear me? I'm stuck here in this bog,
I cant see any light and I cant see through this fog,
Does anyone hear me ? I'm fighting to be strong,
There doesn't seem to be much right but plenty that is wrong,
Does anyone know me? I've been here quite a while,
It's lonely down here and the smell really is quite vile,
Can anyone hear me? I'm still here trying to see the light,
I'm growing tired now and I'm running out of fight,
Does anyone know of me? Does anyone even care?
Has anyone bothered to notice that I'm no longer there?
Can anyone hear me? I'm trying here to live,
Does anyone hear me whisper,
I'm running out of give.

About this poem

This is the only way I know to get out what I feel. I dont know the words for the feelings I have apart from the obvious angry or sad but these come into my head in the middle of the night or halfway through a shower. It doesn't stop until I write it out.
