Whatever Happened to the Outhouse?

Paul D. Lacey 1947 (Zanesville, Ohio)

September 22
Ode

WHATEVER HAPPENED TO THE OUTHOUSE?

Whatever happened to the Outhouse,
With the seat all rough and cold!
The one that had the roughly hewed door,
With the latch that would never hold!

And there replacing the Charmin,
Was yesterday’s Daily News.
To be utilized to its fullest
And not to be abused!

I often long for those days gone by,
When I have the Monday blues.
Even if it did require
Using yesterday’s Daily News!!!!!

I love your poem. Whimsical, memory-envoking and well written,; with a hidden meaning at the end (I think? :).
