Soul Parting

You have given me something
I can't live without;
The part of you,
That help shaped my life.

I'm trying to be brave,
stop asking me to stay;
Now please don't fall apart,
cos I can't face your breaking heart.

Watching you struggle
With every breath you draw,
The strength in me,
Away slowly, it seems to fade;

I wish you could stay;
Just a while longer,
To have those dances,
To toss some stones.

I want to carry on
like everything will be fine,
yet, seeing you slip away,
all I can do is stand and cry;

I try to think of things to say;
Like your words or your memories;
But they don't seem to help,
As the tears just flow.

Perhaps this is life,
Perhaps this has to be,
I just ask for strength;
To journey through life.

About this poem

I wore this poem thinking about the pain of losing someone dear to death, especially watching helplessly as they pass on.
