Our Time To Mourn

Queuing, shuffling, filing by
The Nation’s people-in-waiting
Enter Ole Westminster Hall
Under rafters, peacefully laying
Our Queen!
Our Queen.

Muffled, tired feet have carried for miles
Solemn faces, their weary smiles
In unity, with politicians and dignitaries
Let the Nation’s mourning begin
Come in!
Come in.

Stay quiet now little children
Wiser fingertips, hush those lips
Thread carefully into history
Lost Souls have fought for this
Give thanks!
Give thanks.

Uniform heads bowed in silent duty
Our Sovereign, lies in-state
Resting above Christ’s purple shroud
Her Standard, neatly draped
We mourn!
We mourn.

A chance to stop, curtesy, to bow our heads
Hands placed together in prayer
A capped salute, a blown kiss, a tear
For our beloved Queen Elizabeth lays here
In peace!
In peace.
