Hope

Milka Bachman 1972 (Santa Clara)

In the shade of the sun
I've watched the harvest.
I've tilled the land,
become the dirt.

We watched evenings fall and rise
In breath in spirit in atoms.
These moons, always too full...
These tides, always too ripped...
Lives lived by the edges
of a hundred shores.

We've stood at these crossroads before.

Hope is the eternal bridge
between our souls.
