Too Often Done To Do

Lawrence S. Pertillar 1947 (Connecticut)

Too often done to do.
With excuses found to use.

We love to blame on others,
What we choose.
And If that choice to make,
We can't accept...
We will lie.
Deny and reject it.
Then to claim,
Not to hear...
A single word heard to pay attention.

Too often this we'll do.
With excuses made to use.

We love to argue.
All day and night.
Over what somebody says.
That maybe right.
But still we want it,
Our way to have.
Then to get it.
Yet not not admit,
Just how stupid we feel.
With belief nobody knows,
What to them we have exposed.

Not often done to do,
Is...
Close our mouths.
And pay attention.
With our ears to use.
Open and to listen.

Not too often done to do is...
Hear what's said.
To hear it clear.
Before a choice is made,
With it proven to be stupid!
Too often this is done to do.
And...
Without it for no one to prove.
