Not sure why….but tears are flowing
The cause uncertain, my brain not knowing
But let me surmise why salty droplets impose
On my eyes and lips, my tongue and nose
I saw the other day that “Wally” left this world
From “Leave it to Beaver” days
Just a flower from my childhood,
When such pristine shows were all the craze
A perception of innocence of what life might have been
If not for reality
Always knocking you on your chin
And then let’s contemplate those “Twinkies”
Spongy cream filled cakes from my chubby past
Now filled with stuff so vile and artificial
Eating them now will surely make your arteries blast
So now I seek simplicity
In a time so filled with strife
I walk the pastoral country roads
Adding beauty to my life
I stop to marvel at the symmetry
Of a rose gracing all my senses
I dream of “Mayberry” homes
With lovely white picket fences
And think I must, that such beauty profound
Surely must overcome
The cruelty and venom in this world
With skilled finesse and aplomb
That Cardinal that I see and joyously hear
Hypnotize us all please
And banish all that brings us stress
Bring our fears down to their knees
I don’t really think I have clearly answered
That query of why I cry
Perhaps just remembering memories,
All those memories long gone by
Be those memories very real
Or just a profound therapeutic lie
The perception that life could truly be
A kinder more genteel place
Perhaps is enough to bring on the tears
For the floundering human race
So maybe I really do perceive
Why salty droplets flow
So will that really help to change the world?
One person at a time………please make it so.
