Lonely flower

Lonely flower

Wonder what makes you lonesome, lilac bloom,
Hue of pastel violet, lavendered face in gloom
Creeper embracing the arched, leafy arbour
cleverly bent by a wrinkled gardeners’ labour.

Don’t know your name but saw yours truly,
Sometimes climbing stony houses queerly,
Your fancy tendrils plunging, like purple braid
winding around unknown trees, a mushy cascade.

Even so, this morning, petals swept back, your forage
The muted subtle, sighs saddened the tangled foliage.
Fresh rains on the greens, break into perspiration
Come now, put on again, cheerful garb of inspiration.

You have no fragrance like others you say
plummy, already- dolled- up- face slays.
Smiling heart, mauvy visage, chin up,
Drawn us close to the present, the hub.
