Lady in Blue

SircriS 1987 (La Union)

I saw her one day, walking along the beach.
Her feet brushing the fine white sand grains,
Leaving her trails behind, impressed on the sand.
Then the ripples, the waves washed her footprints.
Until all that’s left, was the seaweedy scent.

I saw her one day, walking along the beach.
She stopped suddenly and took a deep breath.
Her thoughts were wandering, her mind’s somewhere.
Then she bowed down her head, in all her humility.
And in her quietest silence, she prayed sincerely.

I saw her one day, walking along the beach.
Wearing her usual blue gown and blue veil.
She was facing the setting sun on the horizon,
Marveling its beauty, with all its serenity.
Full splendid God’s glory in all its simplicity.

I saw her one day, walking along the beach.
Looking so weary and tired, yet gentle and calm.
Until our eyes met, and then, we both smiled.
She continued walking,’til I saw her no more.
She’s the lady in blue, I will long for her.
