The child cried to music

Heather Lydia Thornhill 1981 (Manchester)

He heard his mothers music
And empathised her pain
And when she was not looking
He played it once again
And found a pain he'd never felt
Filled with joy and of lament
A tear for
softest singer in his element -
of sadness and beauty - of words ever stronger
Released in a sound more heartfelt and longer
than his that ever was never ever sympathised until it was a child's
expressed feeling and cried.

The boy became more empathetic as he grew and knew
More even than this poetry could creep inside and still - convey.
Until far away he sang his crying words upon this very day.
