Dreams

Visions of heights beyond the sky
Navigating a path unclear to the eye
Wealth overflowing from chests unfound
Wanting your future legend to abound
Desiring another who will soon be lost
Never comprehending the ultimate cost

Dreams burning within the heart
Promises made and then a start
Life’s weary path weathers the way
Hopes transform into quiet dismay

But the awakening begins to emerge
A slight wave, then a surge
The treasure is found in a child’s eyes
A legendary friend comforts your cries
The one you love close by your side
Life’s work completed brings solemn pride

All the dreams accomplished but unknown
Seeds slowly gathered and sown
The greatest gifts there all along
Waiting for you to hear your life’s song
