Hallowed Ground

Where, oh death, is thy sting?
A shallow victory the grave doth bring.
Hewn and cut—a stone that marks
The hallowed ground now set apart

For soldiers brave who sacrificed
In giving all, they paid the price
Their graves aligned—row by row
The hallowed ground, here below

That those who walk upon this Earth
May ever know freedom’s worth
A debt of honor that they are owed
For God and Country, it is bestowed

Whose banner waves, its stars, and stripes
Unfurled in majesty—both day and night
The broken earth on which we stand
Is hallowed still by heart and hand

That this great nation, under God
For this devotion was their cause
That we may long in liberty live
Or else in vain, their lives did give
