Demons Haunt

Demons haunt my darkened brain
Taunting me with a liquid pain
Bulging veins that draw me closer
A wicked shot, my heart grows colder

Needle and spoon--my ball and chain
A flicker of fire fans the flame
Black as night and thick as tar
My blood's on fire with a liquid scar

The demons come, but rarely leave
I tried to run, but the needle cleaves
It's voices I hear, the demons call
I ascend to heaven, but quickly fall

To hell and back, a forceful urge
I cannot cleanse, nor can I purge
A coursing river through my veins
Fast and fleeting, the urge remains

The tracks that mark a lonely trail
A gateway to my living hell
It tears into my supple flesh
And takes away my living breath

A jarring smack into my brain
Of empty hopes, sorrow and pain
But soon to shake off this mortal coil
And find my rest deep in the soil
