Downwardly Mobile.

My chosen career path, mediocrity,
has become an art of virtuosity.
To maintain my wages in such stasis, and
float in poverty on a permanent basis
has taken such effort, such non-achievement,
such lack of ambition to be almost vehement.

A rabid desire for lack of progress,
to work so hard in jobs so soul-less.
I've not got much, but earned it all
and never pandered, never crawled.
My heels are scuffed from all the dragging,
for a life of beer and cigs and shagging.
