MELALIN

Francis Boakye 1988 (Bodwesango in Ashanti Region)

MELANIN
Proud, bold and beautiful
I change not my skin
For my confidence lies beneath my pigment

I am the true representation of nature
Forever holding the banner of true beauty,
I eat from the same bowl with reality

Doubt me not, I am real
Naturally endowed with unadulterated melanin
Black is beautiful!
The sun smiles at my beauty
Nature prides itself in my adornment
Can an Ethiopian change his skin?
And still look African?
There is no second me
Yes, the only damsel
Of unpolluted natural elegance

In me flow rivers of wisdom
My absence announces my presence
Dark but bright
A true African, my pride.
