DANGER

Francis Boakye 1988 (Bodwesango in Ashanti Region)

DANGER
Written by Francis Boakye
Sex here
Sex there
Sex everywhere
The mother of generations
Older and mightier than Kings
Stronger than Sampson
And wiser than Solomon

Your wit has brought down nations
Wisdom bow before you
And strength weakens
Generations doomed
For your mistreatment

Life gone
Souls lost
Because you were at work
Sadly, no one admits
To being your partner
Except the foetus bearer

Nature decorated and kept you in secret
You're only allowed to peep
When different blood decided
But now, what?
The church, the pubs
The ministries, parties and streets
All harbour and welcome
You unannounced

The results?
Single parenthood
Death, loss of property
Unprepared motherhood
And also, loss of dignity

Until the world learns and admits
How precious you are
Nature will continue to strike hard
Even on the innocent
