A Million

What is it that  makes a million?
In the deep blue sea of content?
Is it the true blue serenading voice
Singing on topics of consent?
No, it can’t be a talented singer
That isn’t interesting enough
Perhaps a gnarly drummer
Can post up the right stuff?
No , no one cares about that talent,
It’s boring after a while
Hitting the for you page with a double kick
Sends the viewers to denial
No true talent allowed
We don’t really care about that
We want to feed the mindless
Silence the talent , trim the fat.
Trim the fat I said , especially for the ladies
Their bodies need to be this type of sexy,
But we must force them to have our babies
Have our babies I say, with no say of your own
Show your tits, shake your ass
But act like your grown
Lip sync into that camera
That’s all we want to see
Take the request, fake sing a song
Take that money from me
Take that money bitch.   Because that’s  all that you are
You dance and sing at my request
Because of me you’re a star
Ratings are your relevancy
Your looks are all we need
Sure you are talented
But we are only fueled on greed
Greed for sex
Greed for looks
Greed for  a man’s basic need
Greed to discount any real talents
And ignore a true artist in our feed
Scroll past a talented post
Unless they show their tits
Discounted instantly
Non sexual posts don’t get hits.
We aren’t interesting enough
We don’t really matter
We don’t have what it takes
To make it up the ladder.
We mean nothing to anyone
Because sex it always sells
For it always gets even less views
When we actually stay true to ourselves.
So tell me please what the f*ck is happening in
In a world full of bullshit lip syncers
When a true talent video  brings up only 45 views,
And mouthing words  goes up past six  figures.

About this poem

This is poem I wrote about my anger towards what social media has become, and the struggle for real artists to gain traction and exposure on the platforms.
