Deep In The Mountain Stream

Your soul burns deep as fervent flames sweep across the brush
And mine rolls quietly and ever constantly like a hidden mountain stream
In you I found illumination in a world I thought was all but darkness
And you found tranquility in the rest beside my running water
You are my brightness and my warmth, and I am your stillness and your peace

Yet I have found that you are not just my half, but you are my antithesis
And I not just the final piece to your puzzle, but your polar opposite
The fire in your spirit yearns for the clarity of mine, but fears being extinguished
And I watch fondly as you take your course, but hold steadfast for fear of pain.

But those fears are byproducts of what we are, not lump sums.
All regrets have been past transgressions, and whatever pain will be is in our future
Because for now we are here and whole, living in our present.
You are swimming deep in the heart of a mountain stream, and I am finding love beside the orange firelight.
