Transparent Layers

We peeled away the layers
We constructed behind our words,
And what lives in our minds.
We are constantly unmasking
What can’t be seen.
Shadows hide, what the lips
Wouldn’t exercise.
The core colours override
What makeup, makes
Us believe that false foundation,
Is the only truth for our salvation.
Cut the blood orange,
And open your eyes to
What nature made for us all to admire,
And one day we might pause and understand.
We live naked and our souls exposed.
