What do I want for 2021

What do I want for 2021

Want to by an ordinary man,
Just a passenger on a bus,
Waiting at the bar for last orders.
Huge my children and share their laughs,
Live the joys of my granddaughters,
Take to the floor and dance with my wife.
Go on the tube and visit my friends.
Reconnect to the blood  line
Of the city and hop from site to site.
Listen to some music played in the park ,
Hang round the galleries ,
Feast on Van Gogh and contemplate,
And live in the colours of Hockey and escape.
Watch faces from now heading to a past.
Stroll down the Embankment,
And watch the river flows and listen
To the sound of birds and admire
The swimmers in the Serpentine,
For I am a man with Freedom to Pass.

About this poem

At the time of the second lockdown in London due to covid 19, people were suffering at different levels. Fear of the unknown and the future was overwhelming. We need to think and feel our basic needs in life, family, peace, art and the various freedoms. The tube is London metro, the Embankment and the Serpentine are part of north London. We all are ordinary people living normal lives and have common interest and hops
