The Countdown

Tick! Tock! Tick! Tock! That is your life’s racing clock, your only ONE
Dreams, you’ve lived none; no medals, not even one, surely not TWO
Yet this is your mighty goal, desired spirit, body, and soul, all THREE
What is your dream? Impossible it did not seem, when you were FOUR
Where did that child go? All grown up long ago, working nine to FIVE
Life is quick on its feet; time flies in a beat, soon old, sixty and SIX
It is time to start, to make life an art, a world wonder, like those SEVEN
This is the road to heaven; it’s rough, you’ll fall seven, rise up EIGHT
You are no meowing cat; you’ve got one life and only that, not NINE
Live like death is near; chase dreams with no fear, at this count TEN
