Life Is Simply Hard

Easy, hard, there’s nowhere to run
This is living, life’s own way
As sure as the moon and the sun
As natural as night and day
Yet your greed is just for one
Wanting ease and only it to stay.

But just like day and night
Easy and hard is the order of life,
As nights of ease bring rest and delight,
Hustle and dull, the hard days are rife,
But as the day is that which draws light,
To do greatly, you need this bright knife.

To refuse the sharp cut of hard times
Is to embrace winter’s icy grip,
Dormant as the bear for your crimes,
Guilty, guilty, for you chose to skip,
The effort and grind till night chimes,
Now stuck in life, anchored like a ship.

I see now that life is simply hard
If hardship is as day, then let light shine
The cuts of adversity is to leave you scarred
To callous your mind and give you a spine
Don’t worry, my love, don’t be on guard
Embrace life’s hardship, you’ll be fine.
