Who all would care
Charles Poling 1977 (Baltimore, Maryland)
Who all would care????
Who all would care?
If I hung myself jumping off this ol' chair....
While I take my last breath of this polluted air
Would you sit with me and talk me down,
Or would you just walk away, like I'm a clown.
Would you shed a tear, or maybe frown,
Then even walk with your head held down.
You were there and left, for a night on the town,
You just joked and thought, I was playing around.
You turned your back as if you don't see me,
I was on my knees, asking God to appease me.
Now you want me there, so you can be with me,
I'm sorry my friend, you should have seen me.
Now you sitting, at my final prayer,
Sitting there wishing, I was still there.
Who all would dare?
To stand next to me, while holding me up,
Rub my back saying, we can never give up.
Did you walk away, and never look back,
Or was it you, that wouldn't let me slack.
To push me on, and help me get through,
Those dark days without saying just do you.
Did you all dare to be a person that mattered,
Not walk away when my dreams were shattered?
So to all that dares,
So here is a dare from me to you,
Help them out, and see them through.
Those cold dark nights, nothing seemed to matter,
To help them up, lets show them something better.
Hand them a mirror, to see for their self,
Now show me your cards that you've been delt.
We are better than this, why do we just walk on by,
Look in their eyes, and hear those innocent cries.
Would you hear silent cries, without seeing a tear.
Watch out for our friends, their end might be near.
So to who all that cares, take my hand,
Let's show them its not their final stand.
They we are not alone, we're here to help,
We just need to change, the way we thought.
If we fall down, we have to get right back up,
We never give up, and we make our own luck.
So talk to the ones, we thought wasn't right,
Not to walk away, tell them we need to fight.
I got your back, like someone had mine,
Remember you are loved, even in hard times.
So with some guidance, or even a hand,
To open all eyes, and say that we can.
Not to take their own life, because we all know it's not right,
Help them up on their feet, and walk together through the night.
So lets beat all odds, and conquer what's to come,
So don't leave someone's side, knowing what can be done.
So if we left them now, how would we feel,
When tomorrow comes, and they are not here......
