The Night I Was Done Practicing Pool

Analie C. Fernandez 1975 (Catanduanes)

Here, standing at the bottom left corner
Of a T-shaped intersection, facing the top of it
I am waiting for the Walk light,
In this quiet, and calm chilly night.

Across the street, is a 14-story building on left
Its top corner-right backside, is the half moon
Where its curve side is on the bottom, flat top
Looks like half of a silver-white circle, affixed
To the deep blue sky that peppered with stars

This half moon is emanating soft bright light
Against the glistening bright light of
A lamp post that's perfectly aligned below it
To my gaze, they looked like four inches apart
Light on post is lightly blinding my blurry eyes

My eyes, that is naked of its glasses
Keep staring to them two contrasting lights
With the twinkling stars in their backdrops
The Walk light's on_I crossed like a winner

About this poem

The sight of the silver-white half moon that horizontally aligned to the light post with attached Walk light at the T-shaped intersection, sparked my poetic mind. It was February 8, 2022, at around 10pm-10:05pm.
