The Sunset Passage

Ole Paint is saddled, facing west
Boot in the stirrup, reins in hand
Preparing to mount, depart the land
History repeats, I've done my best

No longer youthful, no longer strong
Decisions made, right and wrong
Grateful that you were there
Thankful that we could share
Tender memories to carry along
A lovely melody was life's song

A job well done and able to boast
Duty and loyalties always foremost
Personal desires put aside
Life's peaks and valleys taken in stride
I'm ready now for a final ride.
