Quicksand



Beneath my feet
The ground is caving in.
I cannot seem to move;
I'm rooted in place.

Beneath my feet,
It's like someone else
Is pulling me under.
It terrifies me.

I do not know
What awaits me,
Inside this quicksand
Beneath my feet.

I see a rope in the distance,
But it isn't enough.
I am helpless.
Defenseless;
Yet something is odd here.

The ground remains solid,
Beneath my feet....
